Heck, I think over 60% of the magic rolls my players do are 1st level sensory effects. Not having to roll Arete all the time for sensory magic and just having it on would be really useful. That Cultist effect actually sounds pretty sweet. What I'm saying is there are ways to limit and enforce this stuff if RAW doesn't suit. For bigger offences, they may even have to go on another Seeking style journey in order to regain their flow. Similarly, it could be imposed that if an Akashic deviates from the Limb they study, either by acting dishonourably or by disregarding that limbs sacred tenement, then perhaps they lose the ability to use Do for a short while. And that's in addition to adhearing to the doctrines of the 8 Limbs. Or saying that one cannot have Do higher than their Arete (or double their Arete if you feel like being mean). But there could be ways around it, such as making it a Background rather than an ability cost wise, or making it so Do can only be increased via a mini-form of seeking. I dunno, I can see why Do could become a bit ridiculous. Etc.Ībout as useful as a "Shadow Name" or the rest. (Oh yeah.I HATE Do, with a vicious vicious passion.)īut, if you're putting down the little nubbins everyone else is supposed to get.Īt one point the Cultists were supposed to be able to keep their 1 dot detection Spheres "Always On", leaving them a little glazed, but man, they could FEEL the elemental composition of the tiles of the floor and, wow, dude, I can separate out each and every note in the whole damn song. It's even a titch better than all the Union only Backgrounds with the Pooling, because it doesn't require the constant ass-kissing needed to maintain Requisitions and the like.
It's a wash and wear thneed of an ability. And, Oh, it can also act as an Instrument too! (Said with best Billy Mays Hayes voice). It's like having a Hedge Magic Path that they can use in addition to their Awakened magic with minimal investment. There really is no comparison between Do and any other Tradition specific add-ons.
If you know anything about these features, please join the discussion, tell us how they work, and which piece of book we can find them in.Ĭult of Ecstacy - Level 1 Spheres always activeĪnything else in tiny font, if there's anything at all. The following are a list of features that have yet to be properly defined or verified. Able to use the Data Sphere in place of Corr. Pathways of the Wyck (Travel through the penumbra with only need of 1 level spheres) Science! (being able to turn otherwise Vulgar effects into Coincidental effects by explaining the science behind them while casting). The True Name (A horrendously long and complicated name that gives Hermetics protection from Corr. Entering the Maya without need of Fae enchantment Totems (Spiritual guide, use for crossing the gauntlet without being harmed by the Avatar Storm) The Peaceful Way (Rolling willpower to add successes to ability rolls specific to the Eight Limbs of Expertise)
Do (A plethora of benefits including lowered difficulty for basic unarmed combat, access to a range of martial art techniques, The ability to inflict lethal damage via unarmed combat and block lethal damage from melee weapons unarmed) And yes some traditions may share similar mechanics, but if it's not something every Mage can do, then it still counts. This is just a list of Mechanical features which are more or less unique to each Tradition. Note that this is not a list of paradigms, tools, chantry's, or Rotes.
#Akashic brotherhood bashing and lethal update
Just post bellow the mechanics you know which are unique to each Tradition, and I'll update this list with that information. Problem is my understanding of this is really limited, so I thought it would be quicker to draw on everyone's collective knowledge. I know all of this information is available in each tradition's respective book, but I thought it'd be nice to have an All in One list. I want to compose a list of benefits, mechanics, and special bits and pieces which are specific to each tradition.
